Aldersbridge Communities, a nonprofit provider of long-term care, skilled nursing, rehabilitation, assisted living, independent living, and related services for older adults with locations throughout Rhode Island, announces board member Elizabeth Howlett has been appointed the new state president of AARP Rhode Island.

After working in healthcare financing and consulting early in her career, she entered public service, serving ten years as a State Senator. Subsequently, she served two terms as Lieutenant Governor of Rhode Island.

As Lieutenant Governor, Howlett led the Long-Term Care Coordinating Council for Rhode Island, bringing together representatives from the long-term care industry, home care, advocates, as well as government agencies providing services, oversight, and protection to Rhode Islanders in need of long-term care.

“Given Elizabeth’s experience, it is hard to imagine anyone more qualified for this post,” said Aldersbridge Communities CEO Richard Gamache. “We look forward to Elizabeth’s success as well as her continued service with Aldersbridge.”

Howlett has been a member of the Board of Trustees since 2018.
