For Heroes Only

Apr 4, 2020

This message is for the staff members of Aldersbridge Communities, in all departments and all buildings.

Whether you work in nursing or the business office, in housekeeping, dietary or activities, in social work or administration, in maintenance, medical records or rehab, in the payroll office, admissions or laundry; you are all heroes that work on the front lines of what has been called a “war” against an unseen enemy known as COVID-19, or Coronavirus.

On behalf of our residents, their families, our board members, and from the bottom of my heart, I want to let you know how much you are admired and respected. The work that you are engaged in is so noble and essential to the well-being of our world.

You demonstrate courage and bravery each day, taking care of your residents. When you reassure and comfort them, you do so with unselfishness that goes above and beyond anything written in a job description or policy. To care for someone who is not related to you and to treat them like family is the highest calling. It must be written in your heart.

When you do your best to keep their room clean, or to keep them well-fed and healthy, with clean clothes and linens, because you are part of a community that cares and heals those who are most frail and vulnerable, you demonstrate a compassion and empathy that is in short supply in today’s world.

When you work to the point of exhaustion and tears, but the next time you are called on, you come back to do the same thing, all over again, and you do it with a warm smile and a gentle touch, because you know that is how you would want to be treated if you were the one in need of receiving care.

There’s no one in the world your resident would rather have to help them in their hour of greatest need than you, the staff members that they have come to know and love. You are all heroes.

Sincerely,

Richard Gamache, CEO
